Relating to A Raisin in the Sun

One event I can realate to is when Beneatha was so angry with her brother, Walter, she said she did not love him anymore. We all get angry at our siblings sometimes. At that moment you may feel a certain way towards them, but deep down you will always love them. Once, my sister and I had been in a fight. I was really mad at her and things were said that should not have been said. Like every other sibling fight, we got over it and made up. No matter what there will always be something to love in your brother or sister. When Beneatha said there was nothing left for her to love in him it was not true. She was upset and hurt so she was just talking out of anger.

Comment of Jennifer's Blog:
I can't image how hard it must have been to make those tough decisions. Your sister is a strong person.

My Life in the American Dream

Once I have graduated from my California college I pursue my dream to work in a big, well-known animal  hospital. It is in the city. On a daily basis the streets are busy, people walking on the sidewalks and cars on the road. In the middle of that area is a nice sized animal hospital. At 9 a.m. is the time I should arrive at work. I work in the hospital as an assistant. That means I take care of the animals, wash them, feed them, clean supplies and kennels. I have been working this job for about five years now. I live in a neighborhood about 20 miles away. It's a friendly neighborhood with lots of trees, children and friendly people. My house is not far from all the local schools. This is handy because my husband of two years and I are expecting our first child. He drives his car to his job and I drive mine. My college friends and I still keep in touch but since we have all graduated and pursued careers we hang out maybe a few times a month. We have nice things and are able to buy nice things. This dream makes me happy because it's all I've ever dreamed of. Being as young as I am, it may change a few times because I'll never know what I want to do with life that might change this.

Different Views of the "American Dream"

The first author defines the american dream as equality is more wanted and wealth is second best. He makes his point as people would rather say they were equal to someone who had more money than them and the fact that a person is richer did not matter. The second author says that the american dream is to have more money now. His argument is that having more money can either make you feel more equal to a person or even a little better. The first author states the the american dream was once "modest". He says it was something everyone could obtain without "trampling one another". He is saying that if people would get over the want to be richer and better than one another, then we could all be equal while still feeling good about ourselves. The second author says the old saying, "money can not buy happiness," is now untrue. People say that they can be more happy with money. One of his major points was that some feel like lesser of a person or a failure if they don't have much money or they are embarrassed about how much money they make. I ended up agreeing with the first author. For so long, all most people cared about was being able to be treated as equals. Now that is half-way achieved, people are beginning to steer toward the thing that divided us and made us "unequal". The first author and I agree on this because I thing equality is more important than money. Once we are all equal, I think we should treat money as an optional bonus.
