1930s America

The 1930s was considered 'The Golden Age of Hollywood'. This was because entertainment was becoming bigger with more variety. The sound of film was enhanced and color was added as well. The selections of film genres also became larger. Gangster films, musicals, social-realism films, horror, and many other genres were added to the list. With sound being added as an option for films now, many silent films ended and silent film actors could not make the switch. In 1933, the Great Depression hit hard on the filming industry and many others. Due to the declining economy many people could not afford to go to the movies and theaters got less customers. Some of the major film stars of the 1930s were Clark Gable, Shirley Temple, Will Rogers, Joan Crawford, Wallace Beery, Janet Gaynor, Marie Dressler, Robert Taylor, and Marie Rogers.
